Update! New Mask Technique, Materials, fastening suggestion.

Brianna, This one is for you.

Yesterday, I wore my first mask for an unreasonably long time, in the heat, and by the end of the day my cheeks were very irritated. I’ve got ridiculously sensitive skin, so I can’t predict if the problem will happen to anyone else, but it made me open to trying another material. This video uses the same pattern, but shifts the technique and has two layers of the same interior material- so the finished mask is the same either way- Reversible! I also improved elastic application and general construction methods.

Had a brainstorm about how to attach these things with ANY WIDTH elastic and ribbon, so no more worries about running out of 1/4 inch elastic. And, the mask stays on better this way too.

Below are new pattern sizes.

Men’s with Beard Pocket (two sizes)

Child size 8-10

Child size 4-5 (with suggestion for toddler sizing)

I have found that the Adult Medium size seems to fit everyone who has tried it. (the Large is too big.) I re-linked it here.

Here is my construction cheat sheet. It’s not full instructions, but it should remind you of the important bits.

And here are pics of my kid’s masks.

Stay well!
